I thought while we get ready for our next hike this weekend I'd post some links explain a little more about The Long Trail.
The Green Mountain Club is the keeper of the trails. They and their myriad volunteers help to clean up, maintain and blaze trails throughout the Long Trail. They do classes and hikes and all sorts of wonderful things as well as put out publications and maps of the Long Trail and other hiking trails in Vermont.

This year is the 100th anniversary of the creation of the Long Trail and VPR has been doing a whole series on it. My favorite story is the one of the 3 women who hiked the whole trail alone in the 1920's "without firearms or men to chaperone them."
